Calling community minded citizens – the Kumeu police want you! The Nor-west Community Patrol Trust is seeking more volunteers. About 50 drivers cruise the streets of Kumeu, Taupaki, Riverhead, Waimauku, Muriwai, Woodhill and Huapai.

They help Kumeu police by observing the neighbourhood and acting as a visual deterrent to criminals. Trust chairman Graham Attwood is looking to boost the ranks with “enthusiastic, community minded people” prepared to volunteer one night or four hours a month.

“They act as the eyes and ears for police because we can’t be everywhere at once”, says the Kumeu community constable.
